Servers

  • Greet guests and make them feel comfortable
  • Learn menu items and be able to describe them appropriately to guests
  • Take beverage and food orders
  • Deliver beverages and food in a timely manner

Administrative Specialist (18-month Contract)

General Summary

Sunset Grill Restaurants Ltd. is one of Canada’s first all-day breakfast restaurant franchises. Since 1985 we’ve been the home of Famous All-Day Breakfast® and have expanded to more than 100 locations across three provinces. Our restaurants are owner-operated and designed with community in mind. At Sunset Grill, we’re your home away from home.

We are looking for an experienced Administrative Specialist to join our Head Office team as we continue to expand across Canada and beyond.

This position is responsible for providing administrative support across departments including Operations, Marketing/Communications, Customer Service, and Business Development. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and organizational skills, be comfortable with technology and administrative systems, and have exceptional working knowledge of the Microsoft 365 suite of products.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work collaboratively with other departments to help solve clerical issues
  • Maintain databases and take initiative to develop various franchise resources and documents to improve efficiency of the Head Office
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of strategic partnerships with vendors and Franchise Partners
  • Assist with onboarding new Franchise Partners
  • Prepare correspondence and documents for Franchise Partners regarding updates, policy changes, new materials
  • Monitor status of new builds or ownership takeovers and prepare correspondence for vendors
  • Coordinate and respond to vendor inquiries as required
  • Coordinate and verify print orders for new owners with printing company
  • Perform regular audits of various internal and vendor data and make updates as required
  • Update website information including real estate listings, Coming Soon locations, job opportunities, etc.
  • Attend and provide input on guest feedback discussions
  • Occasional research of industry standards and legislation
  • Provide general support to staff and perform other duties as may be assigned

SKILLS

  • Must be computer literate and able to adapt to new technology systems with ease
  • Highly organized and capable of creating organizational systems with strong attention to detail
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 platform including Outlook, Word, Teams, Excel, SharePoint, and OneDrive
  • Ability to take initiative, problem solve, and think critically
  • Good understanding of processes, policies and procedures required for supporting a Head Office
  • Ability to multi-task without supervision

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • 2-3 years’ experience in an office administrative role
  • University or college diploma an asset
  • Professional demeanor a must

This is a full-time, contract position (18-month maternity leave coverage) with company benefits. The office hours are Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the opportunity for hybrid remote work, which allows for great work-life balance.

Hostess/Host

  • Greet guests and patrons personally
  • Offer appropriate seating arrangements
  • Present menus and take orders
  • Ensure the quantity of menus is sufficient to cater to the number of guests
  • Set up dining rooms
  • Maintain clean and organized tables and work area
  • Assist servers and bus people when /as needed

Busser

  • Clean tables
  • Remove soiled dishware, glassware and flatware and deliver it to the dish washer area
  • Clean and polish counters and furniture and mop and sweep floors
  • Clean up spilled food and ensure that floors and counter surfaces are cleaned
  • Keep an eye out for customers looking for service and assist them with their queries
  • Make sure that the restaurant area is clean at all times
  • Stock serving areas with items such as napkins, ketchup, and extra sets of flatware
  • Clean and organize dishes in the kitchen and expedite orders on request from waiters and servers
  • Assist in clearing tables after each course and bussing them with fresh plates and glasses

Line Cook

  • Set up stations and collect all necessary supplies to prepare for service
  • Prepare a variety of foods
  • Arrange sauces and supplementary garnishes
  • Cover, date and correctly store all food prep items
  • Notify Owner in advance of likely shortages
  • Serve menu items compliant with established standards
  • Use food preparation tools in accordance with recipe manual
  • Close the kitchen correctly and follow the closing checklist for kitchen stations
  • Maintain a prepared and sanitary work area at all times
  • Keep the work area clean throughout the shift
  • Ensure grills, stove top, steamer, walk-in cooler and freezers are clean and ready for use
  • Make sure all storage areas are tidy and all products are stored appropriately
  • Constantly use safe and hygienic food handling practices

Prep Cook

  • Chop vegetables and fruits to specifications stated in manuals
  • Prepare meat for cooking by slicing and cutting appropriately
  • Prepare ingredients as instructed
  • Ensure grills, stove top, steamer, walk-in cooler and freezers are clean and ready for use
  • Clean kitchen counters and other work areas
  • Wash dishes and cooking utensils
  • Make sure all storage areas are tidy and all products are stored appropriately
  • Consistently use safe and hygienic food handling practices

Dishwasher

  • Collect soiled dishes from dining areas and transport them to the kitchen
  • Ensure that soiled dishes are stacked properly so that they can be picked easily for washing purposes
  • Clean dishes and flatware with water in order to clear them of dirt
  • Soap down dishes and ensure that they are rinsed properly
  • Place washed dishware and flatware on drying racks
  • Load soap and water into dishwashers
  • Place dishes appropriately in the dishwasher
  • Remove washed dishes from the dishwasher
  • Stack dishes properly in cupboards
  • Sweep kitchen floor and take trash out
  • Ensure that the kitchen floor is properly sanitized
  • Ensure that all dish cleaning equipment and supplies are stocked properly
  • Assist kitchen staff with food preparation duties when needed
